Before handing down religious punishment to Sukhbir Singh Badal and the Akali leaders who were part of the cabinet, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh ordered all the leaders facing charges to answer yes or no to the crimes they had committed. After this, the Jathedar first asked Sukhbir Singh Badal about the crime of spreading Panthic issues during the Akali government, to which Sukhbir replied in ‘yes’. After that, the Jathedar asked questions about other crimes, such as giving promotions to officers who killed Sikhs and giving tickets to their families during the Akali government, the crime of withdrawing the case registered against the Sikh criminal Dera Sirsa chief, inviting the Jathedars to his house to ask for forgiveness from the Dera Sirsa chief without apologizing, the theft of the holy form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib during the government, failing to find those who defamed the Sikhs by putting up posters, and tearing the holy parts of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and destroying them. Answers were sought for the crimes of protecting the descendants of those who committed sacrilege, the incident of shooting and killing Sikhs in Behbal Kalan, and misusing the Guru ki Golak to put up advertisements to justify the pardon given to Dera Sirsa by asking the Shiromani Committee, to which Sukhbir replied in the affirmative.
