Sikh organization ‘Let Us Share a Meal’ (LSM) celebrated Thanksgiving Day by preparing fresh langar to the needy in 5 states of America – New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Connecticut. According to the organization’s organizers, more than 10,000 langar packets were prepared and delivered to the needy. More than 700 volunteers, including a large number of women, participated in the service of delivering langar to homeless people, senior citizens’ homes and other places. The volunteers served with great devotion.According to the organizers, this service of langar is done according to the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, who started the tradition of langar. He said that the whole world is one community and there is no one high or low here. No one should go hungry. This is the foundation of our religion. According to Bibi Harleen Kaur, who has been serving for a long time, she has been associated with this unique service for the last 15 years. In the first year, langar was prepared and served by LSM for 1500 people. Now langar is served to 20000 people annually. There are plans to increase this number further in the coming years. According to the organizers, this is the true spirit of Thanksgiving.
