The path of revival of the closed district units of NRI Sabha Punjab has been opened after 14 years. The Sabha is soon going to revive the district units. The process has been started under the leadership of Sabha President Parvinder Kaur Banga and Senior Vice President Satnam Singh Chana. Along with the formation of district units, district units are being established in some other districts of Punjab in view of the increasing number of NRIs. However, various irregularities related to funds and operations have come to light in the audit of the old district units by the Sabha. The Sabha is also seriously investigating these irregularities and misuse of funds. President Banga said that after improving the management of the head office of the Sabha and appointing other office bearers, now they have started the process to activate the units formed at the district level. During the audit of the district units, there have been revelations about the misuse of funds on a large scale. These are being investigated, appropriate action will be taken against whoever is responsible.
Election of district presidents was held 14 years ago
With the coming into existence of NRI Sabha Punjab, district-level NRI Sabhas were formed, in which the number of non-resident Punjabis was high. In this way, district presidents of NRI Sabhas were also made in 14 districts of the state, but after 2011, the election of district unit presidents and other office bearers was not held. During this gap of 14 years, four presidents of NRI Sabha Punjab had become, but no one had paid attention to the formation of district units. Now, last year, the newly elected president Parvinder Kaur Banga has taken the initiative to activate the district units. The number of 14 district units of the Sabha formed earlier by NRI Sabha Punjab has been increased to 18. The district units of the Sabha formed earlier included Shaheed Bhagat Nagar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ropar, Mohali, Patiala, Sangrur and Barnala.
The management of all district units will be centralized
NRI Sabha Punjab Senior Vice President Satnam Singh Chana said that centralization is being done in all the district units of the Sabha. First, the appointment of temporary presidents and senior vice presidents of the districts will be started by holding meetings with the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts. This process has been started and a series of meetings with the Deputy Commissioners is underway. The appointment of the staff to be kept in the district units will now be done by the NRI Sabha Punjab office and their salaries will also be released from here.
