Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Coordinator Mr. Arvind Kejriwal have started a drug eradication campaign in Punjab. Taking forward the same campaign, meetings are being held with the defense committees in the villages of Punjab and direct dialogue is being held with the people for the eradication of drugs. This is helping a great extent in completely eradicating drugs from the state.
These views were expressed by Khanna MLA and Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Tarunpreet Singh Saund during the meetings held with the Village Defense Committees in villages Khatra, Baghour, Majri, Rasulra, Ikolaha and Narayangarh under the drug eradication campaign.
Addressing large gatherings in the villages, Cabinet Minister Mr. Tarunpreet Singh Saund said that Punjab is the land of great Gurus and martyrs who have made immense sacrifices for the state, country and nation. Therefore, it is our duty to contribute in the fight against drugs and restore the ancient glory of Punjab by launching a public awareness campaign against drugs. He said that following the path shown by the ten Sikh Gurus can help in eradicating this menace forever.
Saund also stressed that women have to play a significant role in this mission by guiding their children on the right path morally. He called upon the people of Punjab, especially women, to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign.
The Cabinet Minister further said that the fight against drugs cannot be limited to government efforts alone. When people come together with a sense of mutual understanding and responsibility and strengthen the hands of the government, the success of such campaigns becomes even more assured. He added that while the law is doing its job, we should all join this mission to create a drug-free future for the coming generations.
Saund said that the Mann government has launched a historic “Nasha Mukti Yatra” in Punjab. Through this yatra, the message of public outreach and public awareness will reach all the villages and wards.
He said that this drug addiction yatra is not a political yatra, it is a social concept. He appeals to every section of the society, every panchayat, every youth, every parent to join this movement. This fight to make Punjab drug free is a fight of all of us.
On this occasion, the Cabinet Minister also administered the drug addiction oath to the attendees, under which it was resolved that the fight to make Punjab drug free has now started from every village. Every citizen will become the guardian of his village and will not allow drugs to enter the village. Now no drugs will be sold, nor will any smuggler enter the village.
On this occasion, it was also pledged that those who are victims of drugs will not be excluded from the society, but efforts will be made for their rehabilitation by showing them the right path. Drug smugglers will not get any kind of patronage. The resolution of a drug-free Punjab has been taken together with the entire village and this journey has now become a mass movement and this is a fight for the future of Punjab.
Minister Saund appealed that every village, every family, every youth should join this movement. When every village becomes a fortress against drugs, only then will Punjab win.
