The Punjab and Haryana High Court has adjourned the hearing till December 10 on the appeal against the sentence of the Dera Sirsa chief, who is serving a sentence in the case of sexual harassment of sadhvis. During the hearing, the court also reprimanded the CBI for seeking time. In the case of sexual harassment of two sadhvis of the dera, the CBI court of Panchkula had convicted the Dera chief in August 2017 and sentenced him to 10 years in prison each and also imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh 20 thousand. After the completion of the 10-year sentence in the first case, the 10-year sentence in the second case is to begin. The Dera chief had filed an appeal in the High Court challenging the sentence. Both the victim sadhvis had then filed an appeal in the High Court and demanded life imprisonment for the Dera chief. The High Court had then accepted this appeal.
