According to meteorologists, temperatures in North Dakota and Alaska can drop to minus 30 and the body can be numb due to the cold. People in Michigan have been asked to drive their vehicles slowly and carefully on snow-covered roads. Up to an inch of snow is expected in the metro Detroit area. Police are asking people to keep their distance from each other to avoid accidents if they lose control of their vehicles. A state of emergency has been declared in Erie, Pennsylvania, due to the snow and people are being asked to stay off the roads. People have been told that heavy snow is falling in the Great Lakes region, so travel restrictions have been implemented. Erie, which sits on the canal between Cleveland and Buffalo, is expected to receive up to 50 inches of snow. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the speed limit on snow-covered state highways across the country has been set at 45 miles per hour.
