To stop the release of the film ‘Emergency’ made by Kangana Ranaut, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today staged a strong protest outside cinema halls across Punjab on the instructions of Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Seeing the protest of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the cinema managers decided not to screen the film Emergency, after which the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee ended the protest. In Amritsar, protests were held at PVR Cinema (Sooraj Chanda Tara), Trillium Mall and Alpha One Mall against the film, which was led by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Chief Secretary S. Kulwant Singh Mannan, Member Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayshi and Secretary S. Partap Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Chief Secretary S. Kulwant Singh Mannan said that Sikh characters have been portrayed in a wrong way in the film ‘Emergency’ made by Kangana Ranaut, regarding which the Shiromani Committee has already registered objections. He said that it is a matter of regret that the Punjab government has also not taken any step to stop the film till now. He welcomed the decision of the cinema management not to screen the film after the protest of the Shiromani Committee. S. Mannan said that the Shiromani Committee will not allow this film to be screened in Punjab at any cost. If anyone tries to screen the film, the Shiromani Committee will protest again. Meanwhile, Shiromani Committee members Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka and Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayshi said that no anti-Sikh act will be tolerated and it is also the responsibility of the governments to respect the interests and sentiments of every religion. Secretary S.
