The District Legal Services Authority Ludhiana launched the ‘Plant a Tree’ campaign at the District Courts Ludhiana on the occasion of World Environment Day -2025 today.
Instructions issued by the Member Secretary Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Madam Harpreet Kaur Randhawa, Hon’ble Sessions Judge along with Chairperson District Legal Services Authority Ludhiana, the tree planting campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day will continue for a whole month at the District Courts Ludhiana.
On this occasion, Madam Saroo Mehta, Hon’ble Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr. Sandeep Singh Bajwa Hon’ble Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr. Jaspinder Singh, Hon’ble Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mrs. Daisy Bangar, Hon’ble Civil Judge Senior Division, Mrs. Sumit Sabharwal, Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana, Mr. Vipin Sagar, Secretary President District Bar Association, Mr. Himanshu Walia, Secretary District Bar Association, Mr. Rajesh Gulati, District Forest Officer, Mr. Kamalpreet Singh, Range Officer were present with him.
Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Randhawa, Honorable Sessions Judge, while giving information on this occasion, informed that under this campaign, from June 05 to July 05, 2025, about 15000 saplings are to be planted in the District Courts, Administrative Complex, Ludhiana, all sub-divisions (Jagraon, Payal, Samrala, Khanna), Central Jail, Women’s Jail, Borstal Jail, Ludhiana, various villages and schools etc. with the support of the Forest Department, Ludhiana.
Apart from this, she informed that on the last day of the campaign, the “One Judge – One Tree” project will be launched, under which each judicial officer will be given a sapling and will also be entrusted with the responsibility of its maintenance.
Apart from this, ADR A stall was organized by the Forest Department at the building of the center under which saplings were distributed to lawyers, litigants etc. and at the same time they were motivated to plant as many saplings as possible by explaining the benefits of saplings. On this occasion, promotional materials related to the free legal aid scheme, benefits of National Lok Adalat, toll free number 15100 were also distributed.
