In a determined effort to create awareness about environmental pollution and the important role of trees, Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian flagged off an environmental awareness ‘Walkathon’ at Samrala Chowk, Ludhiana on Sunday morning.
Volunteers, NGOs and community stakeholders participated enthusiastically in the walkathon organized by Nature’s Friend in collaboration with Marshall Aid Foundation, Team 1699, Sambhav Foundation, Sahib Enterprises and other partners.
Cabinet Minister Mundian appreciated the participants for their commitment towards environmental conservation and stressed on the urgent need to adopt continuous practices to protect Mother Earth. He stressed on the initiatives of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann which are essential to safeguard the environmental health of the state. Quoting the Gurbani line, ‘Pawan Guru Pani Pita Mata Dharti Mahat’ (Air Guru, Water Father and Earth Mother), the boys appealed to everyone to adopt the teachings of the Gurus to protect the environment for the coming generations.
The volunteers marched with determination holding placards with messages like Save Trees, Save Earth, Save Environment and Clean and Green Ludhiana and vowed to act as responsible citizens in the conservation of natural resources.
