What is this?.. Maybe progress?.. Ever since I regained consciousness, I had considered modern resources as progress, but after understanding the meaning of life, I realized that there is a very close relationship between progress and destruction. I can say with certainty that life passes by while searching for happiness, perhaps in this search we dive into the past, because then life was enjoyed not with the help of progress but by living in the will of nature. Today we have modernity, then there was life. I can say from the perspective of cinema that the world prefers to watch historical or mythological cinema. Perhaps the happiness that we do not get today, we search for in the cinema of that era and this so-called progress has taken away our heritage. An anti-nature and to some extent anti-human economy is going on in the world, which is attacking our existence, because water is Punjab and Punjab is water. Although during the Vedic era (1500-500 BCE) the present day Punjab was called Sapta Sindhu, which is mentioned in the Rigveda, which was based on the seven rivers flowing at that time, in the later Vedic era it came to be called Panchnad, which was because of the five rivers. At all times or in the yagnas, our name or identity was with water, clean and clear water which is now a thing of the past eras. The Budha River has also become Budha Nallah, and why Budha Nallah only?… There are many other sources of pollution, such as Kala Sanghian Drain, Tung Dhab Drain, Chitti Bein, Hansla River or others, which are major reasons for polluting the environment. There is no doubt that the Budha Nallah alone has not polluted the waters of Punjab, but the biggest source or symbol of pollution among all of them is the Budha Nallah, which once flowed slowly like the Budha River, the name given by the first Patshahi, but now is polluting the water at a very fast pace and is turning people’s lives into death. Therefore, the issue of restoring the Budha Nallah first comes to the fore. Many industries are responsible for polluting the water of the Budha Nallah, such as dairy, electroplating industry, etc. The sewage of the city should also be prevented from flowing into the drain. Among the industries that should be closed, the most dangerous is the dyeing industry, which pours 150 million liters of chemical-laden water (which no CTP can clean) into the Badha Nallah every day. Out of 150 million liters, we have selected 105 million liters, which are from Tajpur Road, Focal Point and Bahadur K CTPs, all of which are illegal, whether it is about permissions or violation of water discharge into the river or other rules. All the standards related to water and environment in the world and India are not being followed here, the orders of the National Green Tribunal, Central Pollution Control Board or Punjab Pollution Control Board, all these constitutional institutions are not being followed or are not being implemented by the administration. The people of Punjab are suffering the consequences of the nefarious alliance or corruption of industrialists and governments of this era. They give an argument that what is the alternative to industry? But will this alliance tell us what is the alternative to water? What is the alternative to life? Does the earth change?…
Who gave you the right to destroy something you cannot create, be it water or life, or how can it be given? Or did you take this right yourself on the strength of the administration?.. Where governments become oppressive and biased, justice becomes mute. There again, people speak and with their speech, the destinies of nations, states, and countries change.
The habit of speaking is old in Punjab. Because we are people who react. My or let’s say our only effort is that politics should be on issues and there must be full participation of the people in it. After small successes in the water fight, we have achieved a big success on December 3rd – most Punjabis have stood with us on the issue of water. It is a joy that we have made an issue, which was never considered an issue in India or Punjab, a public issue, and another great thing happened that Punjabis, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and all communities came together on this issue, because water is the most essential thing for life, which has been glorified in every religion. In Gurbani, water has been given the status of a father. Water has been considered life, in the Rigveda, rivers have been saluted as mothers and have been glorified as the sacred power that gives life, in the Bible it is seen as a source of spiritual renewal and life. In the Holy Quran, water has been considered the mercy of Allah and the basis of life. All religions consider water not just a physical element but also a spiritual one. So it is necessary to keep nature’s blessing, water, as it is. Due to modernity, the water of the old river has become polluted, due to which we have heard the laments of the affected villages. Small children, elderly people are victims of unknown diseases, their lifespans have shortened and life has become a burden. I cannot even describe their suffering, they are indescribable, half the village is suffering from cancer, children are born mentally disabled, every third month in the villages there is a check for jaundice. The lives of the poor people are spent in this fear that we have not come under its grip? This is the same Sutlej, from where the Pahul of Khande Bata was prepared and Amrit was served, today the same Sutlej is being made dirtier every day and the sons of Dasmesh were silent, but now they have spoken and spoken loudly. The limit was reached when Harike
Cancer cells were also found in the ears of the fish in the water of the river, those brave men, at least now leave your profit and bribery and follow a little humanity. × It is also true that the people of Punjab used to get angry after drinking the water of these rivers and their health improved. Whenever a tall, handsome young man was seen in the country, people used to say that he belongs to Punjab, and now a train going from Bathinda to Bikaner is called the Cancer Train. Will we stop here? Or will we die by running other trains?.. I had heard since childhood and have also read in history that when someone commits a sin, he is punished, so that he does not commit a sin again, but death is dealt out repeatedly in Ludhiana every day. Death comes out of the old river of Ludhiana with a thud and enters the Sutlej. Then the Sutlej reaches Harike Pattan and joins the Beas, and from there, the narrow needles come out and spread death throughout Punjab. Another very dangerous and unforgivable sin is committed by the factories that they reverse bore and pour the water underground, due to which the underground water is getting polluted forever. Are there no industries abroad? They are more advanced than us, but perhaps somewhere in them, conscience is still awakened and the spirit is awakened. Governments are accountable to the people, that is why the Thames River in London has now become clean from dirt, the Rhine River in Germany flows clean, and in our country too, the Tamil Nadu wind brought dry dyeing for the purity of water, but the Punjab governments did not listen.
Unfortunately, we do not understand that the precious natural resource water is not inexhaustible. It is hoped that this fight or demand that started from the old drain will take a big shape and we will be able to save our only natural source of water – make it like before. It is hoped that a new type of politics will emerge from this fight. My people of Punjab, definitely think about what service the candidates will do to the people by spending crores of rupees on elections? And yes, such apathy towards politics has probably arisen from the repeated deceptions given by the leaders, but I have a request, a request to the people, that they should not be disappointed by this change, we will have to make these changes continuously, only then will we gradually be able to get our desired government, surely the day the politics of issues starts happening in Punjab, understand that the destination will not be far away.
