Taking an important step towards making the youth of Punjab self-employed, the ‘World Skill Centre of Excellence’ was inaugurated by the Sun Foundation under the leadership of Rajya Sabha member from Punjab S. Vikramjit Singh Sahni under the banner of ‘Mera Hunar Meri Shaan’ in Patiala. During this function held in front of the Municipal Corporation office here, the World Skill Centre of Excellence was inaugurated by Punjab Employment Generation and Skill Development Minister Aman Arora, Rajya Sabha member Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, MP Dharamvir Gandhi, MLA Ajit Pal Kohli and Mayor Kundan Gogia. On this occasion, the Mukh Granthi of Gurdwara Sri Dukh Niwaran Sahib Giani Pranam Singh offered prayers. Sun Foundation Chairman and MP Dr. Sahni said that this state-of-the-art skill development centre will provide free training to more than 1,000 youth annually, which will ensure jobs for the local youth. The centre offers cutting-edge courses including General Duty Assistant, Assistant Electrician, Assistant Beauty Therapist, BFSI-Bank Insurance Relationship Associate, BFSI-Account Assistant, and Domestic Data Entry Operator. Dr. Sahni said that our target is to train 10,000 youth annually through our various skill development centres and adopted ITIs across Punjab. By imparting modern skills on state-of-the-art machinery, we are bridging the gap between education and employment. Dr. Stressing on the importance of strong industrial relations to facilitate smooth job placement, Sahni said, “This skill center will not only impart knowledge but will also ensure that the trained students get respectable jobs in reputed companies. Our holistic vision is to ensure a bright future for our youth by combining hands-on training, mentoring and job preparation.” On this occasion, Shri Aman Arora, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh lauded this initiative and said that this initiative of Dr. Sahni is truly transformative for the youth of Punjab. The World Skill Center of Excellence in Patiala will play a significant role in providing world-class training and employment opportunities, which is highly commendable. This skill center will prove to be a ray of hope for thousands of young aspirants.
