Two people were killed and 11 others were injured in a shooting in the US city of New Orleans. According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting took place during the famous “second-line parade”. Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said in a press release that the shooting took place at two locations 45 minutes apart. She said that the police are working very quickly to solve the case. Clues have been found regarding the incident and the suspects will be arrested soon. Kirkpatrick further said that despite the deployment of additional police force at the scene, the attackers succeeded in their intention and fled the scene after firing into the crowd. She said that two weapons were used in the shooting incident that took place at 3.40 pm, which have been recovered from the scene.
Kirkpatrick has appealed to the general public that if anyone has any information regarding the incident, they should contact the police. He said that about 45 minutes after the first incident, a second shooting incident took place on a bridge in which three people were shot, two of whom died while the third is in critical condition. Police have said that it is not yet clear whether the two incidents are related.
