Meanwhile, the farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is also continuing his fast to death. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is clearly saying that he will continue his fast to death until the farmers’ demands are met. Although this second farmer movement is reaching its peak, there is definitely a lack of unity among all farmer organizations during this movement. The common people do not understand why these farmer organizations are avoiding a united and joint struggle when the demands of all farmer organizations are common?
On Republic Day, almost all farmer organizations took out tractor marches in different areas, which received a huge response. Apart from this, farmers also took out tractor marches in front of various shopping malls and the offices of many BJP leaders. On this occasion, farmer leaders also raised their voice in favor of small shopkeepers and said that the work of small shopkeepers is decreasing due to shopping malls and big companies. At this time, farmers are very excited due to the invitation of the agitating farmers by the central government for talks. They have started to feel that perhaps now the central government can fulfill their demands.
This farmers’ movement is also having an impact on the politics of Punjab. Many political leaders have gone to the farmers’ dharna and made their presence known. Due to the farmers’ movement, the base of the main farmers’ leaders is also increasing, due to which it is also being said that a new political leadership can emerge from the farmers’ movement.
At present, many other political parties including Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal are active in Punjab, out of which only Shiromani Akali Dal is a regional party, while all the other political parties are national political parties, which always make their policies and plans keeping national politics in mind and their main goal is to gain power in the country. Only the Akali Dal, which being a regional party, has been keeping Punjab in mind in every aspect, but the current situation of the Akali Dal is in front of everyone. For this reason, a great need is being felt in Punjab now. For this reason, many people of Punjab are now looking closely at the farmers’ movement, hoping that perhaps a new leadership of Punjab will emerge from this side. Although there is only speculation in this regard and it is not easy to convert the gathering of people into votes. Despite the success of the previous farmers’ movement, the farmers’ organizations that contested the elections during the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections did not get success and there was a split in the farmers’ organizations even on the question of contesting the elections.
Efforts are being made by the farmers to get the support of other sections for the ongoing farmers’ movement and some sections are also supporting the farmers’ struggle, but so far not all sections have fully supported the current farmers’ movement like in the previous farmers’ movement. Despite this, the farmers are on the rise and are active in the movement. Farmers say that it is not easy to leave their homes and fields and sit in dharnas on the roadsides, but they have been forced to struggle against the government’s failure to fulfill the demands of the farmers and implement the previously accepted demands.
At present, all eyes are on the talks between the central government and the farmers. These talks will take place in the coming days, due to which only speculations are being made about these talks at this time. Various parties are hoping for good results from these talks. Farmer leaders should present the demands of the farmers in a proper manner before the government so that the central government can take a decision on these demands. The central government should also respond positively to the demands of the farmers and the farmers’ issue can be resolved through bilateral talks. Every issue can be resolved only by coming to the negotiating table. Therefore, the talks between the central government and the farmers should be called an auspicious omen.
