Punjab is currently suffering from heat. Punjab is currently suffering from great hardships. These hardships of Punjab have left Punjab half-dead. The problems are big, the wounds are big, those who apply the bandages are missing. Where have the protectors of Punjab, the shell-clad men, the young women, the wise people gone? Punjab is only with politicians waving their hands!
The temperature of Punjab has been increasing from 42 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius. Punjab is sweltering, like the politics of Punjab. Every now and then, a scolding comes from one side, and from the other, screams and cries start coming. Oh, look, recently Punjab has been suffering from the heat of war. The wounds of Punjab have been festering. Punjab remembered the year ’47. Punjab remembered the years ’62, ’65, ’70, ’99 and in between, ’84 made it uncomfortable. Look at the situation, whoever rises up and crushes Punjab, he turns his eyes towards Punjab. We were living well, the winds coming from the east and west are cooling our hearts, that suddenly, shells, bombs, missiles started falling on Punjab. Was it the fault of the people of Punjab? We spent many nights awake. Our hearts ached with pain. The fear of nuclear weapons made our hearts tremble. After all, what is the responsibility of those who have just recently received fresh wounds on their faces and chests? Of those who say, “We are the protectors of the country, we will destroy it” or of our own people, who sit with their mouths full of snails, ready and ready to give false comfort to the people. A mother’s son died, guarding the border, give him back his son, give him four rupees and say, ‘Jai Jawan’ and what do you have to give, you will give four rupees, you will give him a piece of your face. If you give, you will not give anything to him, who feeds the entire country, keeps his own stomach empty, gets into debt, and can even go to the roofs. Jai Kisan!! Is it true or not!!!
Many times, in grief, she writes such emotional words about Punjab. She sheds tears of blood. Let’s write, listen, and speak the story of Punjab’s wounds. Let’s not go far!
Let’s just talk about the first big wound of Punjab in 1947: – During the partition of India, 10 lakh people died in riots, crores of people were affected. Approximately 1.46 crore people became refugees. The dignity of women was ruined. Children’s childhood was lost. People suffered such internal wounds in the massacre that they could not forget these wounds and injuries throughout their lives. Punjab is a border state. It had to pay a huge price for the war with its neighbors. The wars of 1962, 1970, 1999 and then 2025 caused great destruction in Punjab! They inflicted great wounds. During these years, Punjab had to bear the pain of 1984. Punjab was shaken. The soul of every Punjabi was injured. These wounds continued to fester for years. The efforts that were necessary to heal these wounds were never made. They were just politicized. Till now, cases are registered in the ‘courts’. The culprits are out. What a painful phenomenon it is.
This is the story that Punjabis have patiently seen, heard and endured. But there are some talks that seem “unsuccessful”. Which were imposed on the foreheads of Punjabis to test their patience. Punjabi Suba was ‘spared’ to Punjab, without a capital, Punjabi speaking areas were deliberately left in other states. Punjab’s waters were plundered. Water was given to Rajasthan without any share. Today, when Punjab is unable to fulfill its water requirement, the Centre is busy giving its water to Haryana and Delhi. Despite the fact that all parties and resolutions have been passed in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. But no one listens to them. Punjab is being pushed in the courts to get its rights. Punjab has been suffering from this kind of injustice after injustice for years. Whether the state was ruled by Congress or the current BJP, Punjab has remained a double standard for them! If this were not the case, why would a farmer who is filling the stomach of the entire country by extracting water from his land to its brim, have to struggle for more than a year to save his land? The Green Revolution brought greenery to Punjab, but this greenery became the greenery of the country, but the land of Punjab became half-dead, like drugs to the body, the land became addicted to fertilizers and medicines and today due to water scarcity it is moving towards desertification. A report says that in 125 out of 136 blocks of Punjab, groundwater is becoming inaccessible every year. How will Punjab finally bear this big wound? Which is already pushing farmers towards suicide, debt and forcing them to give up farming.
The fertile land of Punjab is being torn apart by the network of big roads that are being laid from one end of Punjab to the other to please the corporates. With that, the corporates will loot the land, to move the goods here and there, but what will happen to the Punjabis? Desolation? Another wound, of taking away the land that they love dearly, of fighting to the death to snatch a piece of it. According to a report, with this network of roads being built, Punjab will lose about one-third of its fertile land. Farmers, farm laborers who have seen continuous desolation, are seeing this further desolation.
Punjab is having to see desolation even when there is a brain drain and money drain (out) from Punjab. Lakhs of Punjabi boys have left Punjab or are leaving due to the law and order situation and unemployment. Is there anyone who knows their pain? Is there anyone who is trying to stop them? Politics is being played. They are just being hounded. Punjab is under the heat. The river of drugs has consumed the youth, is this not a conspiracy? A conspiracy to empty the land of Punjabi heroes, warriors, thinkers? How many wounds will Punjab be able to bear? Day-to-day campaigns
The land of Punjab is groaning, the land of Punjab is no longer singing. Those colors that are unique to Punjab. Those colors due to which Punjab has been taking new paths. That Punjab which “lives in the name of the Guru” is being led somewhere. On those invisible paths from which there is no turning back. Where there is desolation. Where there is no weeping, there is mourning. Which village of Punjab is left, in which the doors of a large number of houses are not locked with big “locks”, where there were weeping on the wells, where the seats were full of elders, where decisions were made in the streets, where people used to get together, share their sorrows and joys. Now the foundation of Punjab, the village of Punjab itself has been denied.
The parents of sons and daughters living in the state hear the story of the wounds of Punjab from the desolate homes of happiness. The father wipes his eyes with the turban, the mother tears her eyes. The pain of a son or daughter who has gone to the state is also great for Punjab, and also for the sons who have gone to the border. The pain of the devastation of ’47 is also great for Punjab, as is the pain of the wars of ’84, ’65, ’70, ’99, ’25. When the pain of his enemies surges. His blood boils. It boils. But the poison being poured into his veins, his rights being taken away, consume his liver, he feels dead even while he is alive.
Is there any medicine that can remove and reduce the pain of his heart, can cure his problems. Why don’t the politicians who give “sweet pills” finally take care of his wounds? Why don’t they “blow” on the bleeding wounds? Why are they sometimes silent and sometimes making big noises, trying to save the four legs of their chair?
Oh Punjab. Wake up! Understand! Take action! The wounds are not new to you! You endure everything, fight, and become a new, healthy, colorful Punjab again.
Oh Punjab! How can I praise you, there is no one like you! Even after being cut and broken, you keep on reviving! It will happen even now.
