The drug de-addiction campaign is making a significant contribution to the eradication of drugs and people are increasingly becoming a part of this campaign. This is an initiative of the state government through which direct contact is being maintained with the people and is helping in the complete eradication of drugs from the state on a large scale.
This was expressed by Chairman Market Committee Khanna Jagtar Singh Gill Ratanheri, Coordinator Drug De-addiction Campaign from Khanna constituency Parampreet Singh, Education Coordinator Master Avtar Singh and Bhupinder Singh Saund during meetings held with Village Defense Committees in villages Rohno Khurd, Isru, Ekolahi and Galvadi under the War Against Drugs campaign under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund.
On this occasion, these leaders asked the Village Defense Committees of the villages to extend maximum cooperation in the efforts being made by the government to eradicate drugs from the state and to motivate the villagers to unite and support the Punjab government in the ongoing war against drugs. They appealed to the village panchayats to bring drug addicts to government de-addiction centers to get them off the drug.
They said that due to the efforts of the Punjab government, drug smugglers are either in jails or have fled Punjab. Now this campaign has started running at the grassroots level i.e. from villages and wards, which has been named as the Drug De-Addiction Yatra, which is getting a huge response from the people.
They also made all the attendees pledge to give their full cooperation in the drug de-addiction campaign. They appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration and the police department in creating a drug-free Punjab.
On this occasion, Naib Tehsildar Khanna Manpreet Singh, Panchayat Officer Kuldeep Singh, Sarpanch of village Rohno Khurd Rajwinder Kaur, Sarpanch of Isru Jatinderjot Singh Jyoti, Sarpanch of Ekolahi Nirmal Kaur, Sarpanch of Galwadi Jaswant Singh, Baba Karnail Singh Galwadi, besides officers of the police and health departments and other departments and members of village defense committees, Panchayat members and a large number of villagers were present.
