The 8th US-India Conference organized by the All India Management Association (AIMA) emphasized the need to normalize trade relations between India and the US and called for increased cooperation in the field of technology and innovation. The theme of the conference held at the University of California Santa Cruz Silicon Valley Campus was ‘Normalization or Reestablishment of US-India Relations’. In the conference, US Santa Cruz Chancellor Cynthia LeRive, AIMA Director General Rekha Sethi and AIMA President and Tata Steel CEO TV Narendran called for transforming traditional trade relations into knowledge-based alliances. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman Hero Enterprises and AIMA International said that India’s GDP growth rate of 8% is mandatory to fulfill the public welfare commitment. He stressed on increasing cooperation between the two countries through R&D and education. India’s Consul General in San Francisco Dr. K. Srikar Reddy, while talking about India’s $18 billion Semiconductor mission and the joint NASA-ISRO Nisar satellite, said that it shows the deep technological cooperation between the two countries. He said that India’s growing innovation ecosystem has made India a reliable partner of the US.
