There is growing resentment in the Sikh community and Maharashtra Sikh society against the removal of Sri Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir and Singh Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh from their posts by the SGPC’s Interim Committee without any notes. Talking to reporters, Maharashtra State Punjabi Sahit Akademi Chairman Bal Malkit Singh said that Singh Sahibs are not employees but accepted personalities of the Panth and their disrespect is intolerable. Therefore, to resolve the dispute that has arisen regarding the five Takht Sahibs including Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the Jathedar Sahibs of the Takhts, it is the duty of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to sit down with all the Panthic sects, Nihang Singh organizations, Sikh Sabha societies, etc. and find a permanent solution as soon as possible. He said that any party should refrain from making statements in the media or communication channels to show its hindrance or to show the other party down, because such aspects create shame and resentment within the community. He clarified that Sri Akal Takht Sahib and all the five Takht Sahibs are the life and soul of the Sikh community, without them nothing is possible, therefore it is very important to keep the community united to maintain its honor and dignity. Therefore, there should be complete procedures regarding all aspects such as the appointment, retirement and scope of work of the Jathedars of the Takht Sahibs. He said that due to the arrogance and selfishness of some individuals, attempts are being made to undermine the Panthic principles. Panthic dignity is being violated. Insulting Panthic practices, insulting the high positions of the Takhts is being done which the Sikh community will not tolerate at any cost. The Maharashtra Sikh community has fully agreed with the decision taken by Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa Ji in a comprehensive conference held in Anandpur Sahib recently and the Maharashtra Sikh community stands ready and willing to support Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa Ji.
