The Sikh Federation USA today expressed concern over reports that the Indian nationalist organization — the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) — has hired American law and lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs to lobby the U.S. Congress on its behalf. According to the information received, the firm was registered to represent the RSS in January 2025 and has recorded lobbying expenses of approximately USD $330,000 related to “US-India relations” during the first 3 quarters of 2025.
The Sikh Federation USA has said that the attempt of the RSS and other Hindu terrorist organizations to establish a foothold on American soil must be thwarted as it is an Indian government’s backdoor political sanction for the activities of these organizations and to present new faces to America to keep the BJP in power. America is currently upset with the Modi-Shah duo, so the RSS B team wants to present Nitin Gadkari as an alternative. This contract awarding to the firm has been done only after President Trump did not have a comfortable relationship with India.
RSS has awarded the contract to the same lobbying firm that also works for Pakistan, which is a matter of concern.
Sikh Federation USA has told the American government that giving political approval to such organizations means giving legal recognition to human rights and terrorist ideology.
The Indian government has recently been exposed with the killings of Khalistani Sikhs abroad, so we request the American government to pass the transnational repression bill in Congress and make strict laws so that minorities can be protected abroad.
The Sikh Federation USA has expressed concern that this lobbying campaign may unnecessarily distort the real understanding being formed in the US about the issues of minorities in India, especially the Sikh community.
The Sikh Federation USA has appealed to the U.S. Congress, Department of Justice and Department of State to investigate the RSS’s lobbying activities from legal and ethical perspectives.
