The Sikh community is being attacked from all sides for various reasons, including sacrilege or other issues. One such issue has been seen in Portugal, Europe. On a road in Portugal, the religious symbol of the Sikh community, along with the symbols of different religions, were carved on it, on which people used to walk with their shoes and pass by in vehicles. Despite repeated requests from the Sikhs and followers of other religions living there for the past seven years, these were not being removed from the road.
A week ago, this matter reached the President of the European Sikh Organization, Sardar Binder Singh, through the President of Lisbon Gurdwara Sahib, Sardar Manjit Singh. He immediately took an appointment to meet the Member of Parliament of Portugal, Marta Tamido, and presented a memorandum to her to remove it from the road immediately. MP Marta Tamido apologized to them and said that our intention is not to hurt the hearts of the Sikh community or any religion. Give us a week and we will resolve this issue on priority. They contacted the Corporation Department and asked them to remove it and yesterday these religious symbols were removed from the road. Sardar Binder Singh had earlier issued a notice through the European Parliament against an unknown person living in Germany who was using abusive language against the Sikh community and had his campaign stopped and had also filed a complaint in the Parliament against the agitation by the anti-Sikh forces in Canada. Bhai Binder Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh, Sarabjit Singh Sabi and Jagdeep Singh Grewal thanked MP Marta Tamido for resolving this very serious issue on priority.
