The Punjab government has now decided to seize the properties of convicted immigration owners and travel agents like drug smugglers. According to sources, look out notices have been issued to about 3200 travel agents who have cheated people of lakhs and crores.
During the initial investigation, 11 districts of the state have been identified where the illegal immigration business is mostly run. These include Mohali, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Moga, Nawanshahr, Ropar, Sangrur and Kapurthala. The number of people working as immigration and illegal agents in these districts has come to light.
The police have taken swift action against 10 fake travel agents who cheated crores of rupees from these youths within 2-3 days, which has spread panic among those fake travel agents active in the entire state including Kapurthala district, who have been in the news for a long time for cheating innocent youths of lakhs and crores of rupees by promising to send them to America via Mexico. The investigation of several immigration offices last week as part of the campaign being run by the Chandigarh Police against fake travel agents and the arrest of two fake travel agents has further increased this panic.
Shiromani Committee condemns bringing Sikh youths bare-headed, gives turbans to the returned youth
Among the Indians deported by America, a Sikh youth was sent back to India bare-headed without a turban, after which politics has flared up in Punjab. Based on this, Bikram Singh Majithia and the Shiromani Committee have raised questions on the Punjab government.
Recently, an American plane carrying Indians reached Amritsar. A picture emerged of some Sikh youths without turbans on their heads. While the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee arranged langar and tea at the Amritsar airport for the families and others of the forcibly returned Indian citizens, it also made another big effort by arranging turbans at the airport for the returned youth. In this regard, Sandeep Singh, the in-charge of the airport posted by the Shiromani Committee, said that he had reached the airport with turbans on the request of the President of the Shiromani Committee, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
Meanwhile, the President of the Shiromani Committee, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, said that the Shiromani Committee is ready to arrange accommodation for those who are reaching Amritsar through special planes and to take them home as per their needs.
