Punjab Excise Department’s Ludhiana West Range has started a Special Enforcement drive since 01-04-2025 in the jurisdiction of Ludhiana Police Commissionerate &
Ludhiana Rural Police District to crack down the illegal & illicit liquor trade in the range.
As a part of this drive, the department along with the Police has carried out various significant operations in this period.
Till date, a total of 196 raids were conducted across various locations in the range, accompanied by mobile & static nakas (checkpoints) to monitor and intercept illicit activities of smugglers & bootleggers. These efforts have led to the registration of 25 FIRs and the arrest of 24 individuals involved in excise related violations.
Additionally, the department successfully confiscated 4 vehicles being used in the transportation of illegal liquor. The enforcement actions have resulted in the substantial recovery including:
* 523 bottles of Punjab Medium Liquor (PML)
* 465 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) including liquor meant for sale in Chandigarh only and Haryana only
* 339 litres of Illicit liquor
* 1,30,000 litres of Lahan & two Working Stills
The Punjab Excise Department, Ludhiana West Range along with Ludhiana Commissionerate Police & Ludhiana Rural District Police reiterates its commitment to
maintaining law and order by continuing similar intensive checking and enforcement activities in the future to curb the menace of Illicit liquor.
