Gatka Federation USA, the national organization of Gatka, which is promoting the game of Gatka in America, organized the second National Gatka Championship USA in America. Khalsai Jaho-Jalal with the great support of “The Sikh Center of New York Inc” Queens Village New York. Hundreds of players of different age groups, including women and Sikhs, participated in this championship. It is worth mentioning that Gatka Federation USA in America has been working tirelessly for the past many years to promote and spread the game of Gatka in different states.
The organizers congratulated the winning teams and players and all the participating players in the 2nd National Gatka Championship USA. Speaking in detail, the President of Gatka Federation USA and prominent businessman S. Kalwinder Singh California and Dr. Deep Singh General Secretary World Gatka Federation jointly informed that this year’s National Gatka Competitions were dedicated to the martyrdom of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji, the war hero who established the first Sikh state. In which, during the 21 years category of single stick Singhs, Karansher Singh Pennsylvania won first, Mandeep Singh second and Sandeep Singh New York Gatka Association won for third place.
In the women’s 21 years old single stick competition, Gurbani Core New Jersey Gatka Association and Gurwinder Kaur Kansas Gatka Association secured second place.
In the age group 17 years old Singhs’ competition, Bhagbir Singh won first place, Vanshdeep Singh-Akal Gatka Gurmat Group New York won second place and Armanjot Singh- Kansas Gatka Association won third place.
In the age group 17 years old women’s competition, Bibi Kulrajpreet Kaur-Kansas Gatka Association won first place and Bibi Ekampreet Singh-Connecticut Gatka Association won second place.
In the age group 14 years, women’s Gatka exhibition competitions performed very well, where Gurkirat Kaur Kansas Gatka Association, Harnidh Kaur New York, and Seerat Kaur won the first, second and third places respectively, while in the Singh competition, Tegvir Singh Texas Gatka Association, Dilraj Singh and Gurnoor Singh won.
The judging and refereeing skills were led by Mr. Janamjit Singh Calgary Canada, Biba Gurpreet Kaur Texas, Kiratpal Singh New York, Harbhajan Singh North Carolina, S. Sujan Singh Senior Referee America, Jaskirat Singh Senior Coach, Bhai Gagandeep Singh Akhand Kirtani Jatha and Trustee Sikh Cultural Society, New York, Bhai Dalbir Singh Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Bhai Sarabjit Singh Damdami Taksal, Gurpreet Singh, Baljinder Singh Satinderpal Singh and Nihang Harinder Singh and Prabhdeep Singh New York etc.
Apart from this, S. Jashanpreet Singh was honored with the Fair Play Award and the entire Texas team was honored with the Fair Play Award. Jagjit Singh Almira New York and Arshdeep Kaur New York were selected for the Emerging Player Award in various categories of Singh and Bibi. While the prizes were distributed to the winning teams and players, Kalwinder Singh California, Bhai Himmat Singh Coordinator World Sikh Parliament, Dr. Harpreet Kaur Commentator, Biba Sarabjit Kaur Westchester County, Bhai Rajinder Singh Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Society, Kulwant Singh Miani Sikh Cultural Society, Sarvjit Singh- Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Gurdeep Singh Bhatti Baba Nidhan Singh Cultural Society, Narinder Singh Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann), Bhai Hirdaipal Singh, Harminder Singh Ahluwalia and Baljit Singh World Sikh Parliament and the group distributed prizes to the winning players and congratulated them.
