Indian-origin businessman Kaushal Kumar Patel (40) has been arrested in Louisville, Kentucky on charges of assaulting and kidnapping a suspect who had fled his store after stealing from him. Authorities allege that Patel and others chased the suspect who had allegedly stolen a box of tape measure pencils from the store and fled. According to police, Patel and others pepper-sprayed the suspect before abducting him in their car. They later took the suspect to a garage where they beat him. He was strangled and struck with a bat. The suspect was later released on Lee Street, where his mother took him to the hospital. Patel, who is being held at the Louisville Metro Detention Center, has denied the charges.
