There was a time when people used to make many promises orally and keep them in mind for years. Even if two families fixed the relationship of their young children, they would wait until they were young. Pandits, barbers or marasis also contributed to fixing the relationship, but look at their honesty, they would fix the relationship there, in both the houses they knew and could handle. Most of the time, they would also carry the shagun from the girl’s parents. The boy and girl would meet each other only after marriage. The rate of successful marriages was many times higher than today. The daughters and sisters of the village were shared by all. Even if someone took a wedding procession to a village, where a girl from that village was already married, the boy’s father would go to the girl’s house with the parosa (shagun) and invite her to join the wedding. Unlike today, before fixing the relationship, both the families would meet each other, and the give-and-take was also fixed. After that, there are also the rituals of Roka, Shagun and Chunni. Nowadays, another custom has started, which is called ‘pre-wedding shoot’, in which the boy and girl go to a tourist spot before the wedding and make a film in different styles. This film is shown to the guests attending the wedding on the wedding day. That is, the matter that was supposed to start after the wedding is almost completed by the time the wedding takes place. That is, the sacred bond that was supposed to be tied with lava/fera or Anand Karaj, those rituals have become just a show for the people. When the next life starts after the film world, after that, the quarrels and fights, you-you, me-me gradually reach ‘I am not your home’. The matter of the house reaches outside the panchayat and beyond the panchayat to the law. Everyone knows that the arms of the law are very long. The law is resorted to to destroy the other party but it is known when the long hands of the law reach even the common man. Finally, after being pushed and embarrassed, the solution is again with money.
In the old days, the language and character of most people were honest and pure. But the desire and greed for progress have caused a great loss. Today, people think about their family and leave society and the country behind. In the old days, the number of such people was very few. People were tight-lipped, afraid of society and religion. The shame of mutual brotherhood was the biggest, but today, the more a person becomes big in money and status, the more he ignores the shame of the brotherhood and puts religion in his pocket. The explanation for this is something like this.
Politics: Politicians mean those people who have the burden of making the life of the people easy. These people are a role model for the common people. All the eyes of the people of that area are on them, but when the role model is seen faltering, then who should anyone look at? The elections are coming up in the coming days, defections are natural before the elections. It is a matter of great concern that in the era of media, when records of everything are found. They forget what they had said before about the place they went to because their aim is to gain power. They lean towards the side where the tide is heavy. For them, only money, power and their family are priority. The people who made them leaders have no importance. Every politician will now start becoming ordinary and poor and will go to the streets and neighborhoods and hug the voters, but the day they win, they will become special from ordinary. Those who are not in any danger from the common people today. After June 4, they will start finding the same common people dangerous. A large circle of security personnel comes in front of them, which is beyond the power of a common man to cross. Even in temples and gurdwaras, common people go in queues, while these people have VIP darshan. That is, they do not go to the house of God even humbly.
A wise voter gets caught in this dilemma as to whom to vote for; because in the last 4-5 years, such a trend of buying and selling has emerged that one does not know when someone is going to sell out and cheat their voters. This is the reason for many of those who do not go to vote.
Teacher: Earlier, the highest rank in our civilization was that of a teacher. Kings and emperors used to go to the Guru who provided worldly education to their children. But times have changed. Gurukuls, which had their own identity during the time of kings and maharajas, gradually became the property of the government of the time, then where the capitalist system was in place, these institutions became the private property of the corporates.
In India today, the condition of the teacher, who was called the pillar that built the new generation of the country, is such that he is not even capable of arranging a good life for his family. But on the other hand, those who have control over educational institutions are also less educated but with the help of their money, they keep the teachers in front of them. Similarly, many teachers also take leave when their own children have their papers. At that time, the students of the school also have their papers, who cares about them. The logic in this is that I stayed here (master or professor) but my child should get involved in some other job. That is, it seems as if a daily wage earner is talking. The thing also seems right. Teachers working in private jobs, especially if they are men and have the responsibility of the entire household, struggle for their lives just to earn food, clothing, and housing.
They pass it by. For women who are teachers, this is a second income and for them this job seems to be a time pass and gives more time to their children along with work.
Medical profession: People consider doctors as another form of God, but that same God may delay the treatment of a sick person by saying that this is a ‘routine process’ (common occurrence). Only they can tell what happens to the relatives of that sick person at that time. When a relative of a doctor reaches the same situation, see how the team of doctors comes together. At that time, it becomes a special ‘process’ from the ordinary.
Traders: Most traders are so caught up in the illusion of money that they are ready to do all kinds of wrong things. In many places, only fake things are sold. The most adulteration in this is in food and drinks. The discussion of adulteration in sweets often goes on during festivals. In this way, fake milk, fake cheese etc. are being fed by adding acid to the water of round cups. But somewhere or other, their children and family members are also eating this. Recently, a doctor from Punjab did a good job to stop the adulteration of food and drink. Seeing him, what a movement was to be created in Punjab, but politics has taken the doctor’s name in its own color.
Our religion (God Almighty) guides us to live a clean life and the Constitution of our country gives us the right to equality. Therefore, it is important that our leaders, no matter in which field they are, follow the principle of ‘live and let live’ and set an example for the common people. I hope that my countrymen will understand the sensitivity of the times.
