The Delhi High Court has ordered the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board to issue an unconditional apology and impose a symbolic fine on it for not allowing a Sikh girl to appear for an examination wearing a Sikh turban. The case was being pursued by the Legal Cell-Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee under the supervision of Jagdeep Singh Kahlon. General Secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon said that this is a big victory for the Sikh community. The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee will continue its fight and ensure that every Sikh student is allowed to appear for an examination wearing a Sikh turban.
The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board is a selection board whose responsibility is to recruit eligible candidates for subordinate services in various departments of the Delhi Government which fall under Group B and C.
