The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has appealed to the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S Jaishankar, that in the current situation of war in Israel and Iran, immediate efforts should be made to bring back the copies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from both countries with full dignity and to evacuate the Sikhs and other Indians stranded there safely. In a letter written to the External Affairs Minister, the Committee President Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Sardar Jagdeep Singh Kahlon said that the copies of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are present in both countries where there is a Sikh congregation. They said that it is very important to bring this sacred copy back to New Delhi. For this, the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee is ready to provide all possible support to the Government of India. Both the leaders also appealed to the External Affairs Minister to make arrangements for the safe return of Sikhs and other Indians who have gone to these countries. The Indian embassies in the capitals of both the countries should be instructed to get the Indians stranded there in touch with their families so that the families can rest assured that their family members are safe. He said that the war situation is not comfortable, in such a situation, the common people are worried that how the Indians trapped there will be safely evacuated. He said that the people have complete faith in the Government of India and in this matter, the Delhi Gurdwara Committee is also ready to provide all possible support to the Government of India, whether it is contacting the families and coordinating their relatives, taking them to their homes beyond New Delhi or whatever kind of support the Government of India requires, the Delhi Gurdwara Committee is ready to provide all possible support. He said that the Government of India should take immediate steps for this because a large number of Sikhs and other Indians have gone there to study, travel there, and the responsibility of their safe return lies with the government.
