The district administration on Saturday conducted the first randomization of polling staff for the upcoming Ludhiana West sub-constituency in the presence of District Election Officer Himanshu Jain.
According to an official statement, the randomization process was done using dedicated DISE software at the office of NIC.
The statement said, “The objective was to categorize over 1552 employees of the Central and State Governments, Banks and Public Sector Undertakings who have been assigned various duties during the elections. The process was done as per the guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure fairness in the selection of polling staff.”
“The objective of the randomization process was to assign duties to the staff for the polling schedule to be held on June 19 at 194 polling stations falling under the Ludhiana West jurisdiction, which includes two auxiliary polling stations. The staff have been assigned duties as Presiding Officer (PRO), Assistant PRO and Polling Officer (PO) during the polling. A separate randomization process will be conducted for the counting to be held on June 23.
The District Election Officer reiterated that the district administration is committed to ensuring polling and counting in transparent ways as per the Election Commission’s acts, rules and guidelines. He said that the administration has made an elaborate arrangement for this purpose.
194 polling stations including two auxiliary polling stations have been set up at 66 locations to facilitate voting.
Prominent persons present on the occasion included ADC Rohit Gupta, Shikha Bhagat, Election Tehsildar Barjinder Singh Bagga, ADIO Sanjay Sheokand and others were involved.
