The Punjab government’s campaign to eradicate drugs, under the Nasha Mukti Yatra, was conducted under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Mr. Tarunpreet Singh Saund, through which meetings of Village Defense Committees were held at villages Fatehpur, Isru Khurd, Bijapur Kothe and Kotla Dhak of Khanna constituency and all the attendees were motivated to work on a war footing to make Punjab drug free.
Addressing during these meetings, Chairman Market Committee Khanna Jagtar Singh Gill Ratanheri, Coordinator of Nasha Mukti Morcha Khanna constituency Parampreet Singh said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign will continue with enthusiasm till the eradication of drugs and drug smugglers from the state.
He said that Village Defense Committees have been formed in the villages and all sections are coming forward to eradicate this social evil, which is very commendable. He asked the representatives of the panchayats to work as the watchmen of the villages and cooperate with the government for the treatment and rehabilitation of people trapped in the grip of drugs so that the drug victims can be made healthy and included in the mainstream of society.
On this occasion, BDPO Khanna Gurpreet Singh and Aam Aadmi Party Block President (Rural) Mr. Avtar Singh made the people of the villages aware about the ill effects of drugs and informed them about the various initiatives being taken by the government to prevent drugs. On this occasion, the people were also given an oath not to do drugs and to eradicate drugs.
On this occasion, Panchayat Officer Kuldeep Singh, along with officers of various departments, members of Village Defense Committees, various office bearers and a large number of villagers were present.
