As per the directions of Cabinet Minister Shri Tarunpreet Singh Saund, the campaign to make every village of the assembly constituency drug-free is going on with enthusiasm and a large gathering of people is taking place during the drug-free journey in different villages. Under this series, meetings of defense committees were held in villages Chakohi, Bhumadi, Kishangarh, Mehndipur and Mandiala Kalan and people were administered an oath to eradicate drugs.
On this occasion, Chairman Market Committee Khanna Jagtar Singh Gill Ratanheri, Coordinator of Drug Detox Morcha from Khanna constituency Parampreet Singh and Block President Rural of “AAP” and Education Coordinator of Khanna constituency Master Avtar Singh said that no citizen should leave any stone unturned in taking a pledge to make the state drug-free and fulfilling that pledge by all means. Rural Defense Committees are functioning in every village and it is hoped that these Defense Committees will contribute to completely stopping the business of drug smugglers by fulfilling their responsibility with full zeal and honesty.
He said that it is also the duty of the people who attend the awareness meetings to continuously share the messages they receive from here with their family members, friends, neighbors and other dignitaries because only with the formation of a people’s movement can such social evils be eradicated. This campaign will definitely eradicate drugs from the roots.
He said that the Punjab government has started a drug eradication campaign to ensure direct access to every citizen in the villages so that by taking direct feedback from the people, free and appropriate treatment can be provided to the people trapped in the quagmire of drugs.
On this occasion, BDPO Gurpreet Singh, Panchayat Officer Kuldeep Singh, Sarpanch of village Chakohi Sikander Singh, Sarpanch of Bhumadi Harmandeep Singh, Sarpanch of Kishangarh Sukhjit Singh Kahlo, Sarpanch of Mehndipur Surjit Singh, Sarpanch of Mandiala Kalan Karamjit Singh, besides officers of the police and health departments and other departments and members of village defense committees, Panchayat members and a large number of villagers were present.
