The Fly Amritsar Initiative welcomes Qatar Airways’ announcement of a direct flight service from Toronto to Doha starting on December 11, 2024. In a joint statement issued to the press from Canada, Fly Amritsar Initiative’s North America Convener Anantdeep Singh Dhillon and Global Convener Seem Singh Gumtala have said that this new flight of Qatar Airways will connect Toronto directly to Amritsar via Doha. Air travel will become easier.
According to Dhillon, the Qatar Airways flight from Amritsar departs daily at 4:10 am and reaches Doha at 6:05 am. Three hours and 45 minutes after arriving in Doha, passengers will depart Doha at 9:50 a.m. on three days a week, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Toronto at 3:55 p.m. the same day. The flight from Toronto will depart at 8:00 PM on the same day and reach Doha at 4:30 PM the next day. After this, passengers will take a flight at 8:40 PM and reach Amritsar at 2:40 AM the next morning. Thus, air travel between Amritsar – Toronto will be completed in just 20 hours, and baggage deposit and collection and immigration will be only at Amritsar and Toronto.
He added, “Qatar Airways has been operating daily direct flights from Amritsar for the past several years, connecting 9 airports in the US and Montreal Airport in Canada via Doha. With the launch of this new flight, Amritsar will now have 10 weekly flights to Montreal and Toronto in Canada via Doha. Qatar Airways connects from here to other cities in Canada via Air Canada.”
Currently, the only option for Punjabis to escape the hustle and bustle of Delhi is to fly Italy’s Neos Air to Toronto from Amritsar via Milan. Gumtala said in this regard that Neos Air has also increased the number of flights to Toronto from two to four in a week for the month of December keeping in mind the winter holidays. Now with the launch of Qatar Airways flights from Toronto, another option has been added to Toronto for Punjabis.”
