New York City Comptroller and Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander was reportedly detained in Manhattan immigration court after trying to save an immigrant, but was released after being held for a few hours. Lander, who is running in the party’s primary election for mayor next week, is monitoring the activities of the immigration court. He is fighting for the rights of immigrants. After being detained for about 4 hours, Lander came out of the Federal Plaza, where the New York ICE field office is located. His wife and Governor Kathy Hoschel were also with him on this occasion. Apart from this, a large number of his supporters were present. Talking to the media, he said that I am happy to know that no case has been filed against me, but if they file a case, I am aware of my rights, I can hire a lawyer. He said he wanted to alert immigrants that federal agents can only arrest them if the court does not rule in their favor and dismisses their case.
