The Trump administration has ordered its missions abroad to suspend or suspend all social media screenings of foreign students for the time being. An internal memo said the State Department is working on expanding social media screenings of foreign students. Therefore, new students should not be given a screening appointment to issue visas. The memo was issued by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The order by the Trump administration comes amid a surge in deportations and the revocation of visas for ineligible students. In the order, Rubio said that students who have been granted screenings under the new guidelines should be processed and applications that have not yet been processed should remain as they are. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce declined to comment on the order but said the US would use all means to help screen anyone who wants to come to the US. He said that anyone, be it a student or anyone else, who wants to come to America will be investigated.
