On the directions of the Punjab Government and high officials, DCP Law and Order and Traffic Shri Parminder Singh Bhandal along with a team of about 400 police officers and employees conducted a thorough checking for more than 5 hours at Central Jail Tajpur Road Ludhiana. At this time, Central Jail Superintendent Shri Shivraj Singh was also present with him.
Mr. Bhandal said that the checking has been done keeping in mind the maintenance of law and order in the jail, ban on drugs and many other aspects. He said that it was completely secret and unexpected so that the bad elements do not get any chance to escape. He said that the checking has been done by the ladies force of the men’s and women’s barracks.
Mr. Bhandal said that although no illegal goods or narcotics have been recovered during the checking, such unexpected checking creates a sense of fear in the persons with criminal tendencies and they refrain from committing crimes. He warned the evil elements that such surprise checks should be done regularly after some interval so that the jail can be made a real reformatory. He appealed to the prisoners not to do illegal activities but to try to reform themselves inside the jail so that they can lead a respectable life after completing their sentence. On this occasion, he also inspected the outer walls, cameras and security of the jail and expressed satisfaction. He gave some instructions to Jail Superintendent Mr. Shivraj Singh regarding routine medical check-up of the prisoners and good food.
