Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, met the families of the victims of the Maur Mandi bomb blast in 2017 who are still waiting for justice for their children and family members who were killed in this terrorist incident. During the meeting, the victims’ families shared with Jathedar Gargaj the entire incident in detail, how a bomb blast took place during a political rally in their locality on January 31, 2017, in which seven people, including five children, were killed. The families said that their children were playing in their locality when the bomb blast took place near a political rally held there and their children fell victim to politics. Maur Mandi residents Ankush Singla, Japsimran Singh, Varkha Rani, Ripandeep Singh, Saurav Singla, Ashok Kumar and Harpal Singh died in this terrorist incident. The families told the Jathedar that despite their long struggle for justice, they are not getting justice. Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, while talking about providing immediate justice to the victim families, questioned the Punjab government as to why it has not been able to reach the people who carried out this incident till date. He said that the victim families have the right to get justice. The culture of Punjab is completely just, our people have social values.
For this reason, the crime rate in the people’s mentality here is lower than all other states. But despite this, the biggest problem of Punjab is that the system here is devoid of justice. A big example of the absence of justice is the victim families of the Maur Mandi bomb blast, who have been waiting for the punishment of the perpetrators of this terrorist act since 2017, but it is sad that no arrest has been made yet. He said that instead of providing justice, why are the governments protecting the terrorists who committed this act and also protecting them. Jathedar Gargajj asked whether these victims are not citizens of this country and when will they be given justice? He said that the terrorists who carried out this incident are now enjoying themselves under the patronage of the government. He said that if tomorrow any of these families go out to seek justice, the same government machinery will call them terrorists and put them in jail for thirty years. He said that governments talk about the constitution, therefore every citizen should get justice under the constitution of the country. He clearly said that as long as justice is not given to the victims’ families, their voice will be carried along by the entire Panth and Punjab.
