Gurpreet Singh Harino, the former finance secretary of the Waris Punjab organization, was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants in his village on October 9 last year (2024). After the death of actor Deep Sidhu, the head of the Waris Punjab organization, Amritpal Singh took over the command of the organization, after which Gurpreet Singh Harino, who was the finance secretary, left the organization. There was a dispute between Gurpreet and MP Amritpal Singh regarding the activities of the organization and during the police investigation, it has come to light that apart from MP Amritpal Singh, Arsh Dalla, who is sitting abroad, has a role in carrying out this murder. After this, the police have named Bhai Amritpal Singh and Arsh Dalla as accused in the said case.
In this case, the police have arrested both the shooters who were killed, the 3 accused who did the recce, and now the police have also imposed a section of UAPA in the case even before filing the charge sheet in the case.
Regarding this case, SP Faridkot Jasmeet Singh said that on the basis of the facts revealed by the police during the investigation of the Gurpreet Singh murder case, UAPA sections have been imposed on accused Amritpal Singh and gangster Arsh Dalla and other accused, about which the court has also been informed as per the rules. He said that the investigation of the case is still going on, hence no further information can be shared. SP Faridkot has said that UAPA has been extended in case number 159 on the basis of facts.
