The Shiromani Akali Dal is finding no way out of the political turmoil it has been in for the past several years. The Sikh panth is not expressing faith in the Akali Dal again. Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal resigned from the Akali Dal presidency in the past, but the Akali High Command and the youth wing rejected it and said that if If Sukhbir Singh Badal does not withdraw his resignation, then all of them will resign. It was also said that this is all a conspiracy against Akali Dal.
It may be remembered that a few months ago Mr. Akal Takht Sahib declared Sukhbir Singh Badal a criminal against the Sikh Panth and declared him as a payer whose punishment is yet to be announced. Sukhbir Singh Badal himself appeared before the Akal Takht taking responsibility for the decisions and actions taken against the ‘interests’ of the Panth and Punjab during the Shiromani Akali Dal’s tenure in power in Punjab.
Meanwhile, the current leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal including Sukhbir Singh Badal met with Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh and other Jathedars of Akal Takht and demanded that Sukhbir Singh Badal be ‘punished’ soon. Takht Sahib said that Sukhbir Singh Badal is a salaryman, he should resign first. Then the decision will be made.
