Punjab. Khalistan supporter and MP from Punjab’s Lok Sabha seat Khadoor Sahib Amritpal Singh has filed the first petition in the Punjab-Haryana High Court after the formation of the new party Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De). In which Amritpal Singh has appealed to watch the Republic Day parade as well as participate in the Parliament session. Amritpal Singh is currently lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Security Act (NSA). Amritpal Singh has argued in his petition that his participation in the Republic Day and Parliament session is in the interest of justice and equality. He described it as a symbol of democratic values and the basic principles enshrined in the Constitution. He says that his presence in these programs of national importance is a matter of public interest.
Said to fulfill the duty of being an MP
Through the petition, Amritpal has demanded from the court that the concerned officials should be asked to allow him to participate in these important programs. He says that being an MP, it is his constitutional duty to participate in the Parliament session and raise public issues in the Parliament. In the petition, Amritpal has made the Government of India, Punjab Government and others as parties. However, it has not been listed yet.
