The District Administration celebrated International Anti-Drug Day today at Guru Amardas Apahj Ashram, village Sarabha where people were made aware to stay away from the scourge of drugs.
On this occasion, MLA from Ludhiana South Assembly constituency Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina, Dr. Pragati IAS (UT), District Social Security Officer Inderpreet Kaur and a large number of people participated.
MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina motivated people to actively join the anti-drug campaign and personally participate in the activities related to the program. She emphasized that the officers of various departments should interact with the community during their visits.
She said that under the Drug Free India campaign, a three-pronged strategy should be implemented focusing on stopping the supply of drugs, conducting outreach and awareness initiatives and reducing the demand for drugs. He clarified that it is time to develop the fight against drugs into a people’s movement aimed at making Punjab, especially Ludhiana, drug-free.
He also stressed on planning and conducting extensive awareness activities to make the society, especially the youth, aware of the ill effects of drugs.
