Head of Gurubani Research Foundation and former co-chairman of the Dharam Prachar Wing of Delhi Committee Paramjit Singh Veer Ji has strongly condemned the ban imposed on Punjabi actor S. Daljit Singh Dosanjh’s upcoming film ‘Sardar Ji 3’. He said that right-wing ideologies are objecting to the opposition to the film due to Haniya Aamir. This is a manifestation of small-mindedness and a worrying attempt to tarnish the image of Sikhs. He said that Daljit Singh Dosanjh is an artist who has been proudly presenting the cultural identity of Sikhism, Punjabiyat and Gurmukhi script. He reminded that Daljit Dosanjh presented the pain of the 1984 Sikh genocide to the world through his films, like ‘Punjab 95’ made on Jaswant Singh Khalra, which had more cuts. Many of his films have brought the reality and history of the Sikh community to the attention of the new generation. He said that Daljit Dosanjh has given respect to Sikh and Punjabi identity worldwide by going to the Met Gala with a turban, kirpan, Gurmukhi script and a map of Punjab. He said that attacking this film and Daljit Dosanjh seems unfair, especially when he has made it clear with evidence that this film was shot in February, long before the tragic Pahelgam incident, during which an India-Pakistan cricket match also took place. Finally, Veer Ji has protested against the criticism questioning Daljit Dosanjh’s patriotism and termed it as injustice to a great artist like Daljit Dosanjh.
