Every year on July 4, the residents of America celebrate Independence Day with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm by hoisting the American flag, taking out parades in different cities and setting off fireworks at night.
Accordingly, the Sikh community of the city of Dayton, Ohio, hoisted the American flag on the grounds of the Gurdwara Sikh Society of Dayton. For this event, Dr. Darshan Singh Sehbi, a member of the Sewadar Committee of the Gurdwara Sahib, invited prominent leaders of the city, including Beaver Creek Mayor Don Adams, former Riverside Mayor Bill Flauty, and Charlene Bayles from the Interfaith Group of Dayton.
The event began with a prayer for the well-being of all by the granthi of the Gurdwara Sahib, Bhai Hem Singh. After this, the American flag was hoisted and the American national anthem was sung.
Mayor Don Adams said in his address, “I thank the Sikh community for inviting me to the Gurdwara Sahib to be a part of the 4th of July celebrations. This event not only paints a bright picture of our country’s independence, but also of the diverse communities that live here. I hope to be here again next year, when America celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence.”
Dr. Simran Kaur Sehbi, speaking on behalf of the Sikh community, said: “We honor the sacrifices of all those who defended freedom, and as Sikhs, we are proud to be a part of this great nation.”
Other speakers included Dr. Sandhya, Avtar Singh (Springfield) and Charlene Bayles. Dr. Darshan Singh Sehbi concluded by thanking all the guests and members of the congregation.
