Employees of all public sector banks across the country will go on strike today. According to a media report, the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a strike today. The union is demanding a five-day working week for the employees. Due to the strike, cash transactions and cheque clearance will be disrupted.
After the holidays on the fourth Saturday of the month (January 23), Sunday (January 25) and Republic Day (January 26), this will be the fourth consecutive day that public sector banks will be affected. However, the banks have not officially announced the closure of their branches. Apart from this, work is going on normally in private banks, which are not part of the UFBU.
