Members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee affiliated to the Shiromani Akali Dal have boycotted the internal elections held today. The Akali leaders have termed the said election process as illegal and a government-sponsored spectacle conducted under the guise of government patronage. Talking to the media, former presidents of the Delhi Committee Paramjit Singh Sarna and Manjit Singh GK said that they have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office, apprised of the shameless interference in the Gurdwara administration by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and ministers Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Parvesh Verma. Sarna said that the internal elections of the Delhi Committee are a fraudulent process designed not to serve the sect, but to strengthen political control. Accusing Sirsa of leading a planned campaign to destabilize the traditional Akali side for the last three years, Sarna said that a poisonous mixture of false cases, bribery and coercion has been prepared to break the opposition and weaken the traditional Akali base. Without naming the BJP, Sarna said in a strong tone that now the ones shouting for emergency have turned out to be the fathers of Indira Gandhi. They have committed the democratic murder of the Gurdwara administration. But these traitors will definitely be destroyed. Those who congratulate people of dead conscience by giving them defeat are actually giving defeat to the dead. Speaking on the defecting committee members and Sirsa not getting priority during the elections, Sarna said that the vendetta has not been satisfied. Sarna accused the Sirsa family of openly looting the resources of the Delhi Committee at Bighar and announced that it will soon be dissolved. G.K. Satirizing the reappointment of old office bearers, he asked whether this time the envelope with the names of 5 new office bearers and 10 executive members was sent by Rekha Gupta or did this envelope come from the BJP office? G.K. said that on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Emergency, on the one hand the government is celebrating “Constitution Murder Day” but on the other hand the basic spirit of the Constitution of the Delhi Committee is being murdered. Due to this, our members did not go to the general meeting. However, Surinder Singh Dara and Mahinder Singh, who were given the right to vote by the Delhi High Court, went to the meeting. Where they submitted a memorandum to the Director Gurdwara Elections, citing the disqualification of Harmeet Singh Kalka and Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, demanding that both of them not contest the elections. Because Kalka and Kahlon had been declared guilty of disobeying the court order in the case of pending salary of the staff of Guru Harkrishan Public Schools by the Delhi High Court. Because of this, both of them are not eligible to become committee members as per the Delhi Committee Act. But Rekha Sarkar and the Director have murdered the Gurdwara Constitution by making the accused office bearers. That is why we did not go to participate in the illegal election of the current corrupt committee. They have also violated the orders of the Delhi High Court to hold general elections. It is believed that the government machinery has even used the ED to keep the elections one-sided. A large number of Delhi Committee members and Akali leaders were present on this occasion.
