District Child Protection Unit Ludhiana, Police Department and Bachchan Bachao Andolan jointly conducted a special campaign at the railway station of Ludhiana district to stop child beggars from begging, child labor, child trafficking, child marriage etc.
Bachchan Bachao Andolan is being run by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi under the Jeevanjot Project, under which the District Child Protection Officer has been made the nodal officer for the said program as per the guidelines issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana.
A surprise check was conducted at the railway station under the chairmanship of the District Child Protection Officer and he made the general public aware that children should not be given alms, child labor should not be done and cooperation should be given to prevent child marriage.
District Child Protection Officer Rashmi said that such surprise checks will continue in the future too so that Ludhiana can be made free from child begging, child labor and child marriage. He stressed on making children enter schools and create a bright and safe future.
