(Gursimran Kaur Report):-Punjab. After the order of the Supreme Court, the Punjab Election Commission has started the process of elections for 5 Municipal Corporations, 43 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats. For this, now the voter lists will be amended. The Election Commission has released its program today (on November 13). State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhary said that voter registration, publication of voter lists will be done on November 14, 2024. After this, claims and objections of the people will be taken from November 18 to November 25, 2024. These claims and objections will be settled by December 3, 2024, while the final publication of the voter list will be done on December 7, 2024.
Voter lists will be published everywhere tomorrow
All Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers have been directed to publish the existing voter lists on 14.11.2024 in the office of the Electoral Registration Officers as well as in the concerned municipality. As per the amendment program, any eligible person can apply in Form No. 10000/-. Form No. 7 (for inclusion of name), Form 8 (for objection to inclusion of name) and Form 9 (for objection to details in the entry) as prescribed in Rule 14 of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Election Rules, 1994. Form No. 7, 8 and 9 can be downloaded from the Commission’s website (i.e. https://sec.punjab.gov.in).
These people will be able to become voters
To be registered as a voter, the applicant must be 18 years of age by the due date. He should be a normal resident of the area in which he lives. He informed that for the convenience of the general public, instructions have been issued to the Deputy Commissioners to arrange a special campaign on 20 and 21 November 2024 to submit their claims and objections (in Form 7, 8 and 9) in the respective municipalities. The final publication of the voter draft roll will be done on 07.12.2024.
